Hi everyone,
I have great pleasure in announcing the formation of the short mat players tour!!
We are arranging four top class singles events to be held around England in the 2010/11 season, followed by a Champion of Champions. All events will have big cash prizes.
There has been alot of discussion amongst players from all countries asking why our game is stagnating so a few of us have decided to do something about it. Our plan is to help promote the game we love by promoting the best players in events which we will invite local media and local officials to. we are also hoping to get Horizon media to record games and maybe do some promotional material for us. We will have a website crammed with info on players, events, the game and of course recorded and live streamed games.
In the future we hope to launch an International Masters series and a Premier League to assist in the promotion of the game
We need your help!!! Those of us who are doing this are doing it totally at our own expense, we do not seek expenses or honoraria, just the knowledge that we might help take the game forward, however this costs money. We are in discussions with several people regarding sponsorship and have already had a comformation from one source. The tour is open to any bowler from any country however we need to set up a subscription system to join, this is to help cover costs. Our secretary is currently drawing up membership forms. If you wish to join you will have exclusive acsses to the website and of course the right to then enter the competitions. The cost of subscription is £15 for the year. All those who join by July 31st will be entered into a draw to recieve online vouchers worth £100 to spend on bowlswear.
The events will be held on the following dates
4/5 Sept 2010 Exeter, Devon (64 players)
18/19 Dec 2010 TBC (64 players)
15/16 Jan 2011 TBC (64 players)
12/13 Feb 2011 TBC (64 players)
Champion of Champions 23/24 April 2011 (16 players)
We appreciate that of course these dates will not be available to all players but we hope you will enter as many as you can. you will be guarenteed 3 games of 15 ends at least and we hope to have markers in place for all games so players will not have to play and mark.

ReplyDeletewhat a great idea. Simon i take it the semi finalist from each tournament qualify for the champion of champions? if not how is the 16 players made up
ReplyDeletewould it be possible to get a qualifier event in ireland or would this go against the constitution of the IIBA, big ask for the irish lads to go to 3-4 events all in england
ReplyDeleteThe IIBA have not got the brains or the balls to organise a competition of this scale, i wouldn't be suprised if Hunter and his army of Goons tried to stop an Irish Based qualifier.
ReplyDeletethere a few dimwits in the iiba but dunt think theyd try an stop a qualifer here. as theres no prize money awarded for a qualifer the iiba cud have no objection. monies wud only be awarded after play off in England.

My name is P.J Gallagher from donegal and i think it is the best idea i heard yet to promote our wonderful game. i would love to play in it but gettin to england is hard enought once never mind few times. i honestly think ya should organise an irish qualifyin night maybe in ballymoney cause god knows they need the money as well. so would it be possible
ReplyDeleteIm sure its possible but someone from ireland is going to have to stand up to the plate and help the English guys who are running this ala Seamus Kyne seems to be the only one with the drive to do it. No chance of the IIBA going for it, the biggest decision they have made in 25 years is to bring in coloured bowls and they where last to fall.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest decision the IIBA officials made this year was to what starter they would have at their freebie meals.Should i take the orange juice or the cornflakes.,ah blah its a freebie ill have both while the players pay.Equality is the order of the day.Good site sardonic and way better than satiricals obsessive censorship of every single comment and if its a comment that the innner sanctum wont like it never gets to print.All bowlers are equal but some bowlers are more equal than others!!!

ReplyDeleteSeamus was the worst Irish manager ever at the last internationals. No information or interest shown and to not go to world bowls laughable. If you cant go shouldnt take the job.

ReplyDeleteIt is monotonous to read comments which would seem to be made by players who have gained representative status. I personally dont know if the officers are in any way subsidised, but, to be honest, I would not like to spend my hard earned cash to wet nurse a bunch of guys who cant turn up in time to catch planes, cant get up in the morning to meet match schedules, cant keep off the drink during the time the match is on and probably act like children on a school trip.
