The orchard has never been so ripe, 2 years without a defeat, the premier men’s team, complemented by the premier women’s team that decided not to show up against South Tyrone. Juniors......................well who needs a junior team when you have the ruthless recruitment policy of Armagh.
West Down, Oriel & South Tyrone have provided the conveyor belt of talent in the past and with South Down touted as the next stop for the Armagh head hunters is there anybody who can stop the relentless rise of the orchard. No Bruce Willis or Ben Affleck to save the day, it will be left to Quinn Direct and the Bald Eagle to drill out the Armagh Core

this talk of no juniors coming through in the armagh is nonsense...may not be many under 18 but if you look alot of armaghs players for the final are in their 20's. jack moffet jal richardson david beattie andy leckey steven mc call sean conroy jnr and the rest of the team are not exactly over the hill. and they have alot of other good young players that are/will be pushing for places next year.
ReplyDeletefunny you should talk about armagh pinching players mid ulster based their success on it...sean davison originaly played in south tyrone tommy johnston is he not from to northern and im sure on closer inspection they have a few others.
put the green eyes of envy away for a while...who do you actually play for? where are you actually from? who are you??
Where is the next star coming from??? Sean came through the oriel set up, never played for oriel but played his nationals through dundalk. Stephen mc call is not a product of the junior system. Only Andy Leckey is someone from that list who you could say will be a major part of the armagh team in 10 years time. Certainly not a conveyor belt of talent, more like a flash in the pan
ReplyDeleteare you saying none of the rest of the players named will be playing for armagh in years to come?
ReplyDeleteNot if the players that are reported to be moving to Armagh actually do, then someone is going to have to drop out
ReplyDeleteWho is moving to Armagh?
ReplyDeleteif these players move to armagh it will be some of the older players who will get left out! some of them shudnt be on the team anyway!
ReplyDeleteSaturday is a big day for the Armagh team. Both sides have a point, there is undoubtedly passengers in this Armagh team and talking to most of the players they are aware and equally concerned about these players. From the other side of the argument the younger players have hardly showered themselves in glory and fulfilled the potential Armagh thought they had
ReplyDeletedepends which ones you are looking at?
ReplyDeleteArmagh have the core of a very good side buti wud agree some fringe players are average at best most times. this could be said for all zones i think even MU will have the odd passenger on sat but maybe fewer than armagh. still anyones final though
ReplyDeleteproducts of the junior system...you make it sound like zones have an academy for youth players...if you want to talk about good young players from armagh then yes steven mc call would be classed in that bracket as would david beattie chris trainer jack moffet jal richardson andy leckey.
ReplyDeleteand as for sean junior he plays his nationals through armagh and the 1st zone he played for was armagh so.
my guess is whoever you are you have a gripe against armagh maybe you have fallen foul of the "ruthless recruitment policy"
Armagh will need all the help they can get come saturday. Mid Ulster are going to spank them all around st annes hall
ReplyDelete22:43 who is the next junior to make the seniors and how many years before it happens???
ReplyDeletethere arn't any juniors good enough to make senior team!
ReplyDeletedoes it matter? We have two of the best players in the country coming next year, no team is unbeatable but armagh will be pretty dam close.
ReplyDeleteWho are the 2 players. Heard of Aidan Corrigan but who is the 2nd. PS is there many zones bar Oriel that put their youth on to the team i dont think there is.
ReplyDeleteoriel have to put their youth on because simply they are by far and away their best players...oriel as a zone team done nothing for years, until these younger players came along without them they'd do nothin in the boomer. they are a progressing zone where bowls is thriving...but they are getting their share of imports...what happens when oriels 2 new signings arrive next year?? will 2 juniors drop out?
ReplyDeletearmaghs next prospects?? does it matter, 2 juniors from last year are on the team!!
as i said maybe you have got a gripe with armagh and are trying to create an issue which is not really there. good luck to everyone tomorrow promises to be a classic between 2 great sides that are full of world class players
I know armagh people that have a gripe with armagh.the most arrogant pains in the onions and sorry to say not very amicable squad.A few decent lads there for sure but a few that have the personality of a tailors dummy in a window!!
